On October 20, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Ly Van Canh - Head of the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene (Thai Nguyen Department of Health) said that the unit is completing procedures to administratively sanction the case of a student suspected of food poisoning at the Center for National Defense and Security Education - Thai Nguyen University.
"After eating, some students showed signs of nausea. The school took 9 students to Hospital A. 7 students were allowed to return after the test, 2 students with fever continued to stay," said Mr. Canh.
According to the Head of the Food Safety Department (Thai Nguyen Department of Health), when informed of the incident, the unit established a team to inspect. However, after 2 days of inspection, no samples were taken and the cause was unknown. The team made a record and inspected the kitchen area.
"Currently, the procedures are being completed to handle the penalty for improperly storing samples, some kitchen staff at the facility do not wear masks or hats during processing.
The cause is only suspected food poisoning, because it is related to the meal. The day the team came to check, the samples had been taken for more than 24 hours, and the sample storage cabinet was not complete," said Mr. Canh.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on October 14, many students at the Center for National Defense and Security Education - Thai Nguyen University showed symptoms of digestive disorders. Immediately afterwards, the Center's medical department reported to the leaders and deployed emergency measures.
According to statistics, 244 students suffered from abdominal pain and were monitored and given medical care, of which 9 cases showed more severe symptoms and were transferred to A Thai Nguyen Hospital for examination.
The unit then coordinated with relevant agencies to review all kitchens and water sources, and at the same time reported to the Department of Health to check the cause.
