On August 5, Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Director of the Management Board of Fishing Port and Storm Shelter of Ha Tinh province - said that it is still not possible to collect a large amount of garbage drifting into Xuan Hoi fishing port and Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter after the major flood from the impact of storm No. 3.
According to Mr. Son, the amount of garbage drifted into Xuan Hoi fishing port and the Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area (Dan Hai commune, Ha Tinh province) was about 500 - 700 tons.
Through the survey and contact of salvage, in neighboring communes, there is no unit capable of saving the salvage, due to the large amount of garbage, the garbage area is more than 5m from the nearest location, and the cranes are usually not available.
Currently, there is 1 unit in Nghe An province that inspects and quotes an estimated amount of VND 763,840,000 (specifically, it depends on the actual amount of waste, the distance from the waste transportation to the collection point is arranged).
In that situation, the Management Board of fishing ports and storm shelters of fishing vessels in Ha Tinh province has requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Provincial People's Committee to consider and support funding to implement garbage collection and treatment; assign local authorities to arrange garbage collection and animal carcass treatment sites.
At the same time, it is recommended that local authorities and functional forces coordinate to propagate that people should not arbitrarily pick up firewood in the area to avoid accidents and drowning.

According to the Management Board of Ha Tinh Fishing Port and Storm Shelter, this is an urgent task, requiring timely handling, avoiding environmental pollution, affecting the operation of boats entering and leaving fishing ports, anchorage areas as well as damage to works and other possible incidents, so it is recommended that the Department of Agriculture and Environment consider and handle.
As Lao Dong has reported, affected by storm No. 3, heavy rain caused major floods in the Western communes, Nghe An province.
Floodwaters from upstream swept away many garbage, wood, firewood, branches, and animal carcasses along the Lam River, drifting in large quantities to Xuan Hoi fishing port and the Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area, obstructing fishing vessels from entering, fishing and anchoring, and potentially polluting the environment.
