Starting construction of resettlement project to serve Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway

Lao Cai - On the morning of August 19, the Provincial People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.

The Compensation and Support for Resettlement, Mobilization of Technical Infrastructure for the Construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong Railway Project, the section passing through Lao Cai Province, is one of the important and key projects selected by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Lao Cai Province to start construction to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

The project to carry out site clearance for the entire main route of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway with a length of 77.19km passing through the old Yen Bai province; build a total of 26 concentrated resettlement areas in the communes of Quy Mong, Xuan Ai, Mau A, Chau Que, Dong Cuong, Tan Hop and Au Lau ward, Lao Cai province with a total land area recovered of about 808.42ha; the total number of households to be cleared is 4,113 households.

Up to now, Lao Cai Province's No. 1 Investment and Construction Project Management Board has completed investment preparation, contractor selection and is qualified to start construction of the project: Renovation of the site and internal roads, drainage system in the resettlement area of Nuoc Mat village, Au Lau ward. The project is expected to reclaim 3.4 hectares of land from 24 households and 2 organizations.

The Nuoc Mat resettlement area project in Au Lau ward, which was started, is one of 45 concentrated resettlement areas invested to serve the relocation of households. The project is invested with an area of 3.4 hectares, leveling 69 resettlement plots and investing in synchronous technical infrastructure to serve households whose land has been recovered to implement the project.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Hoang Giang, Standing Deputy Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee emphasized: The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project has strategic significance in forming a railway transport network in the North, running along the East - West corridor, connecting the Northwest region with the Hai Phong Delta and seaport - one of the largest maritime centers in Vietnam.

At the same time, connecting railway transport with China, directly in the Southwest region, China, an area with over 500 million people and developing very strongly; from here, it will continue to connect with railways of Asia - Europe countries, creating strong development momentum, creating new development space, accelerating the development of urban areas, industry, tourism, services...

The project will create great opportunities for businesses inside and outside Lao Cai province to participate in the process of building and supplying materials and logistics services, while creating thousands of jobs, creating livelihood opportunities to help people increase their income and improve their lives.

The leaders of Lao Cai province requested households and organizations with land and assets on land that have been collected, relocated, or cleared to continue to support and highly agree with the state's policies and guidelines for the common development of Lao Cai province in general, and promptly hand over the site to serve the project's construction organization according to the approved schedule.

At the same time, the entire political system will jointly implement the site clearance work for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project (section through Lao Cai province), with the highest sense of responsibility.
