On November 21, the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (HCMC Department of Construction) announced that it will hold a ceremony to open the road to the project to raise the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 bridge on the morning of November 23.
Recorded on the same afternoon, the two ends of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge have been paved with asphalt and expansion joints. Workers are completing the sidewalk and painting the road, preparing for the opening day.

The project to raise the clearance of Binh Trieu 1 Bridge will start construction at the end of 2024 with a total investment of 133 billion VND. The entire length of the bridge is 554 m, increased by more than 1 m, helping to clear the waterway across the Saigon River.
The ban on cars crossing the bridge from August 26 to now has caused frequent traffic jams on National Highway 13 and Pham Van Dong Avenue, Binh Trieu 2 Bridge - the main routes leading to the center.
Therefore, the resumption of traffic is expected to significantly reduce traffic pressure for people in the Northeast gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City.
Binh Trieu 1 Bridge will serve the traffic flow from Hang Xanh intersection to Pham Van Dong and National Highway 13. While Binh Trieu 2 Bridge takes the opposite direction to the center through Dinh Bo Linh Street.

To completely resolve the congestion at the Northeast gateway, Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating a series of large-scale infrastructure projects.
The National Highway 13 expansion project is expected to start construction at the end of 2026 and be completed in 2028, considered a key solution.
National Highway 13, nearly 6 km long from Binh Trieu Bridge to Vinh Binh Bridge, will be expanded to 60 m with a total investment of about VND 20,900 billion, under the BOT form. Of which, the Ho Chi Minh City budget spends about VND14,600 billion, the rest is mobilized by investors.
About 3.2 km in the middle of the route will be built with a 4-lane elevated road, designed speed of 80 km/h; on both sides are 3-lane parallel roads on each side, maximum speed of 60 km/h. The project also has two underpasses at the Binh Loi and Binh Phuoc intersections.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction is also preparing a dossier to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in December 2025 to request an investment policy for the two projects to expand Xo Viet Nghe Tinh and Dinh Bo Linh streets, expected to start construction in December 2026.

Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (from Hang Xanh to Binh Trieu 1 Bridge, including the section of National Highway 13 through the old Mien Dong Bus Station) is expected to be expanded to 30 - 40 m, building Dai Liet Si intersection according to the roundabout plan combined with underpass.
The total investment capital is about 7,000 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance and infrastructure relocation accounts for 4,500 billion VND.

Dinh Bo Linh Street (from Binh Trieu 2 Bridge to Dien Bien Phu) is 2 km long, expected to be expanded to 25 m; build a new Binh Trieu Bridge with a scale of 6 lanes including 2 units, each unit is 11.5 m wide, 560 m long.
The total investment of the project is about 2,900 billion VND, the cost of site clearance is about 1,400 billion VND.
