On June 24, the Ta Xua Special-Use Forest Management Board coordinated with functional forces to successfully re-release 1 sand turtle (Cuora mouhotii) back to its natural environment in the Suoi Ben area, belonging to Ta Xua special-use forest, Muong Coi commune, Son La province.
According to the Ta Xua Special-Use Forest Management Board, after a month of receiving, caring for and monitoring the health, the turtle individual has recovered well, meeting the conditions to return to its natural habitat.


Previously, on May 24, 2026, the Forest Protection Department of Region V received a sand turtle individual voluntarily handed over by Ms. Dinh Thi Kien, residing in Tieu khu Cang, Phu Yen commune, Son La province.
According to Ms. Kien, during the harvesting of rice in the rice field area of the Cang Sub-area, she discovered a turtle individual and voluntarily handed it over to the functional forces.
Sand turtles are rare and precious wild animals that need to be protected. People's voluntary handover and care by forest rangers, releasing them back to nature contributes to biodiversity conservation and preservation of natural ecosystems.
