On September 18, the People's Committee of Kon Ray district said that the locality has many mineral mining sites. Therefore, the management agency must closely monitor the statistics and inventory of actual mining reserves.
According to the planning approved by the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, Kon Ray district has 21 mineral mining sites. Of which, copper minerals have 3 mines; sand for common construction materials has 11 mines; and soil mines for landfill materials have 5 mines.
Along the Dak Snghe River, Dak Bla also has a number of other mineral mines such as: Dolomite (Dak Pne), Feldspar (Dak Rve town), Uranium ore (Dak Ruong, Dak To Lung).
In the period of 2021 - 2023, Kon Ray District People's Committee proposed 9 locations of 8 mining points to auction mineral exploitation rights and was granted 7 mineral exploitation licenses by the Provincial People's Committee.
Of these, there are 4 licenses for exploiting sand and gravel for common construction materials, 2 licenses for exploiting construction stone and 1 license for exploiting land for filling.
In 2024, Kon Ray district proposed the Provincial People's Committee to approve the inclusion of 5 mining locations with a total area of 15.1 hectares in the 2024 mineral exploitation rights auction plan.
To avoid loss of mineral resources, Kon Ray District People's Committee directed specialized agencies to compile statistics and inventory actual mineral output, avoiding exploitation exceeding capacity and reserves, leading to violations of the law.
On the other hand, the authorities require mineral mining enterprises to install weighing stations and surveillance cameras to calculate and report actual volumes. From there, the State agencies have a basis to apply resource tax and environmental protection tax according to regulations.
