In the context that gasoline and oil prices have continuously decreased and returned to a stable level, the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction requests passenger transport business units to urgently review and re-declare freight rates to ensure the rights of people and properly implement regulations on price management.
On August 1st, according to PV's records, the fare for passenger cars on the Hanoi - Lai Chau route currently fluctuates commonly from 350,000 to 550,000 VND/trip.
Ms. Hoang Thi Lam (Xuan Phuong ward, Hanoi) - shared: "This summer, my whole family returned to Lai Chau for tourism, compared to the beginning of 2026, we see that bus ticket prices are quite high".
It is known that the road connecting Lai Chau - Hanoi is about 450km long, travel time is from 7-11 am, depending on the route and traffic conditions.
The vehicles mainly circulate along National Highway 32 or the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, then connect with roads into Lai Chau province.

This is a route with many steep, winding sections, including the O Quy Ho pass area and many roads through Than Uyen and Tam Duong districts.
According to the assessment of many passengers, the current ticket price is still quite high, while fuel prices - a factor accounting for a large proportion of transportation costs - have decreased significantly compared to the previous period.
The Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction said that when gasoline and oil prices increased sharply in the past, transport businesses declared adjustments to increase freight rates to compensate for costs and maintain operations.
However, after many recent operating periods, fuel prices have continuously decreased and basically returned to the level before the fluctuation.
Although some businesses have proactively reduced ticket prices, there are still many units that have not reviewed and re-declared prices in accordance with the decrease in input costs.

According to the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction, the slow adjustment of fares not only affects the rights of passengers but also does not promptly reflect the fluctuations of price-forming factors, reducing the effectiveness of price stabilization and affecting a healthy competitive environment in transport activities.
To ensure compliance with regulations, the Department of Construction requests passenger transport businesses to urgently review the factors constituting prices.
Businesses need to develop plans and re-declare freight rates corresponding to the reduction in fuel prices and input costs.
At the same time, units must strictly implement ticket price listing, sell at the declared price, not collect higher than the listed price; improve service quality, ensure traffic safety and comply with the correct transport route.
For bus station management and operation units, the Department of Construction requests to strengthen inspection of ticket price listing, service quality of transport enterprises, and at the same time ensure full conditions to serve passengers and vehicles at the station.
The Department also assigned the Transport Management Department to guide and urge businesses to review and re-declare freight rates; coordinate with functional agencies to strengthen inspection and examination of price declaration and listing and strictly handle violations.
According to the Lai Chau Provincial Department of Construction, timely adjustment of freight rates according to fluctuations in input costs will contribute to ensuring publicity and transparency in transport business activities, protecting passenger rights and creating an equal competitive environment among businesses in the area.
