On the afternoon of August 20, the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province said that it had approved a project to carry out emergency repairs and repair damage to National Highway 55, section passing through Bao Lam 3 commune.

Accordingly, at Km211+700 to Km212+300, the construction unit will supplement a 1m wide and 1m high box culvert system; and at the same time build an underground culvert to draw water from the frequently flooded area downstream, about 120m long.
The total cost of project implementation is about 1.2 billion VND. Currently, the construction unit has gathered machinery and equipment and is expected to start construction from August 21.
Previously, National Highway 55 through Bao Lam 3 commune was frequently deeply flooded for a long time every time it rained heavily, affecting the travel and lives of people on both sides of the road.

In the afternoon of August 20, heavy rain continued to cause the section of National Highway 55 through this area to be deeply flooded. People had to build embankments, raise their property and move their belongings to safe places to limit damage.
According to functional agencies, this area used to have a drainage system across National Highway 55. However, after a period of operation, the sewer pipe was silted up and blocked by mud, no longer capable of drainage, leading to prolonged flooding when it rained heavily.
The addition of sewer and underground culvert systems is expected to solve drainage bottlenecks, limit flooding on National Highway 55, ensure traffic and stabilize the lives of people in the area.
As Lao Dong Newspaper reported: Prolonged heavy rain has caused National Highway 55 through the above road section to be flooded for 5 days.
The flooded road causes traffic obstruction, seriously affecting the lives and activities of local people. In particular, the houses of some households show signs of subsidence and cracked walls.
