On April 18, authorities in Lam Dong province focused on verifying, investigating and handling the case of deforestation in the area.
Initial information, on April 10, the forest protection force of Lam Ha Protective Forest Management Board (Lam Ha District, Lam Dong) coordinated to patrol the forest in Phuc Tho commune.
When arriving at Zone 2, Sub-area 253 (belonging to the administrative boundary of Phuc Tho Commune), the forest protection force discovered Tran Viet Ngoc Son (30 years old, residing in Phuc Tho Commune) committing acts of deforestation.
At the scene, the authorities discovered 22 fallen forest trees with a total volume of damaged forest products of 13.886m3 on the area of destroyed forest of 1,309m2 belonging to the production forest category of natural forest.
On April 11, Lam Ha District Forest Protection Department drew up a record of administrative violations against Tran Viet Ngoc Son and temporarily detained the related exhibits.
Previously, on April 4, the forest protection force of the Hoa Bac - Hoa Nam Environmental Management Board (Di Linh District) patrolled at section 4, sub-area 711 under the forest management unit and discovered Nguyen Quy Ky (48 years old, residing in Hoa Bac Commune) illegally exploiting the forest.
At the scene, the subject used a hand saws to cut a 3-leaf pine tree (falled due to a fire) with a volume of forest products of 0.803m3 belonging to the production forest, which is a natural forest.
On April 8, Di Linh District Forest Protection Department drew up a record of administrative violations and temporarily detained a handheld gas station.
Currently, the Lam Ha and Di Linh District Forest Protection Departments are expanding the investigation, verifying and completing the above two violations of deforestation to handle according to regulations.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, from December 11, 2024 to April 16, 2025, there were 27 violations of the Forestry Law in the province.
The damaged forest area was 3.79 hectares, the total volume of damaged forest products was 405.2m3 of various types of wood. Of which, 1 case of complex and prominent deforestation occurred at Ha Phong Company (Loc Ngai commune, Bao Lam district).
This is a deforestation case in which the subjects used a hole drill to poison and destroy 174 decades-old 3-leaf pine trees.
The case is being focused on by the authorities of Bao Lam district to verify, investigate and handle according to regulations.
