A team checked and assessed the cause in the project area of Trang Trai Viet. Through inspection, the team recorded in the project site that there were 2 ponds with broken walls, creating a large amount of water flowing downstream, causing the incident.
In which, 1 pond containing large water, area of about 18.4ha, breakwater length of about 48m. 1 small pond containing adjacent water has an area of about 4.1 hectares, the length of the broken wall is about 37m.
Preliminary damage statistics recorded 109 households with severe damage to crops, crops, livestock (mainly apple, beef, chicken growing areas, etc.) with affected land areas of over 100 hectares. Units are continuing to count the damage.
According to Tuy Phong Commune People's Committee, the initial cause was due to heavy rain lasting for many hours in the upstream area, the Trang Trai Viet project's pond bank broke, combined with steep terrain and a small drainage system, leading to water flowing rapidly downstream, causing heavy damage.
As Lao Dong reported, on the evening of November 1, the reservoir of the Viet Farm project broke, causing the water to flow downstream in village 2, Tuy Phong commune, Lam Dong province.
The incident caused devastation, sweeping away crops, houses and many properties of the people. There were 4 people swept away by the water, of which 3 were rescued in time, and only 1 girl died.
