The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just issued an official dispatch on reporting the content as proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Accordingly, based on the document dated June 23, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, on the proposal to clarify the implementation of environmental protection work of the wastewater treatment plant in Phong Khe craft village, Bac Ninh city.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province assigned the People's Committee of Bac Ninh city to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on the contents according to the document dated June 23, 2025.

According to the reporter's investigation, the Phong Khe craft village wastewater treatment plant (Bac Ninh province) invested by the People's Committee of Bac Ninh city, started construction in 2013, and put into operation since the beginning of 2017, with a total investment of more than 217 billion VND.
This factory is expected to improve the pollution of craft villages and the environment of the Ngu Huyen Khe and Cau river basins - a burning problem that has existed for decades.
Before 2024, the factory collects wastewater from more than 250 paper production facilities in Phong Khe 1 and Phong Khe 2 Industrial Clusters.
The factory's designed capacity is 5,000 m3/day and night. However, the amount of wastewater from facilities flowing into the factory each day is only about 2,000 m3/day and night, less than 50% of capacity.
In late 2024 and early 2025, Bac Ninh province will handle environmental pollution in craft villages and Phong Khe industrial cluster.
Through the work of mobilizing, inspecting and handling violations by the authorities of Bac Ninh province, 200 paper production facilities in residential areas in Phong Khe ward have stopped operations and relocated factories.
In addition, 135/137 paper production facilities located in Phong Khe 1 and 2 industrial clusters have also stopped operating.
