According to information from the People's Committee of Van Don Special Zone, in response to reflections from some people about sand mining activities in Minh Chau sea area, on December 10th and December 23rd, 2025, the locality assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs, Van Don Special Zone Police to inspect the scene of sand mining activities in the area.
The results of inspection and verification show that Tan Lap Trading Co., Ltd. is implementing a silica white sand exploitation project in the Minh Chau area that has been fully granted legal documents by competent authorities according to regulations.
Legal documents include: approval of mineral reserves; approval of environmental impact assessment report; investment policy decision; mineral exploitation license; decision to assign sea area and confirmation of exploitation boundaries and markers on the ground.
Currently, the enterprise is exploiting in area No. 1 with an area of 0.16km2, in accordance with the licensed scope. The company has implemented the release of boundary buoys and exploitation boundaries according to the coordinates assigned by competent authorities.
The measurement results and the buoy release location are consistent with the approved dossier, the errors are within the permitted scope, and no exploitation outside the project boundary has been detected.
Regarding waterway traffic safety, Tan Lap Trading Co., Ltd. has developed a traffic assurance plan to serve the project construction and has been approved by the Northern Inland Waterway Sub-Department (Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration).
During the field inspection, the task force did not detect illegal sand mining activities, and did not detect mining activities outside the project boundaries according to people's reflections.
Van Don Special Zone People's Committee affirmed that the organization of inspection and verification of reflected information is carried out seriously, objectively, and in accordance with legal regulations, in order to promptly clarify the matter, avoid causing misunderstanding and public outrage, and at the same time ensure the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses.
