On January 2, Mr. Dang Thuc Anh Vu, Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Health, exchanged with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters about information related to the debt of nearly 300 billion VND at units under the Department.
According to the Deputy Director of Lam Dong Department of Health, the unit has reported on the debt of nearly 300 billion VND in the two areas of Binh Thuan (old) and Dak Nong (old) sent to the Provincial People's Committee, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance to seek opinions and handling directions in the coming time; and at the same time find solutions to solve debts in these two areas.

Currently, the above debt mainly arises from the regular activities of public non-business units, hospitals and health centers under the Department of Health. The reason is that revenue from medical examination and treatment activities decreases, while expenditures increase.
Working with units shows that more than 95% of revenue in medical examination and treatment activities comes from Health Insurance.

However, due to many overlapping regulations, many revenues from Health Insurance at hospitals and health centers in Binh Thuan and Dak Nong regions have not been able to be finalized.
Along with that, the capacity for medical examination and treatment at medical facilities is still limited, such as a shortage of equipment, high-quality human resources..., so it has not attracted people to health care, medical examination and treatment. Therefore, the revenue of hospitals has decreased.
In the coming time, the Department of Health will coordinate with functional sectors to inspect and review the level of autonomy of medical facilities to balance revenue and expenditure, ensuring the operation of units.
In addition, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong areas also have outstanding debts for COVID-19 prevention and control costs; debts for salaries and allowances of civil servants and employees.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, the prolonged debt situation in Binh Thuan and Dak Nong (old) areas arises after the arrangement of administrative units.
The total debt of medical facilities in these two areas as of the time before the merger (June 30, 2025) is 299.3 billion VND.
To date, units under the relevant Department of Health have handled nearly 13.2 billion VND. The total debt to be paid at health facilities in Binh Thuan and Dak Nong (old) areas is currently more than 286.1 billion VND.
In which, the Binh Thuan area (old) accounted for the majority with 257 billion VND; the Dak Nong area (old) still accounted for more than 28,162 billion VND.
