On the evening of July 27, Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on slopes and traffic taluys; land subsidence and localized flooding in many localities due to continued heavy rain.
In the past 6 hours (from 11:00 to 17:00), many places in the province experienced moderate to heavy rain. Rainfall measured at some points such as Gold Mine 39.4mm, Tan Hop 2 reached 35.8mm, Dai Son 2 reached 27.8mm and Y Can 21.4mm.
According to the meteorological agency, soil moisture in many areas has nearly saturated or reached saturation, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.
In the next 6 hours, Lao Cai will continue to have rain with a common amount of 20-40mm, in some places over 70mm.

Faced with complicated weather developments, on the same day, the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent document requesting departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards to proactively respond to heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, landslides, tornadoes, lightning and hail.
The Provincial People's Committee requests localities to closely monitor weather developments, promptly inform people; strictly implement the "4 on-the-spot" motto; prepare sufficient forces, vehicles, and supplies to be ready for rescue, relief and disaster recovery.
Communes and wards must urgently review high-risk areas, resolutely evacuate people and property from dangerous areas when necessary; arrange forces to guard at underground, spillways, temporary bridges, landslide points, and prevent people and vehicles from passing through when safety is not ensured.

Local authorities are also requested to strengthen propaganda so that people do not cross streams, spillways, deep flooded areas; do not fish, collect firewood or work in places at risk of flash floods and landslides during heavy rain.
For localities that have been affected by natural disasters in recent days, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requests urgently to overcome the consequences, access the divided areas, ensure food, drinking water and necessities for people. At the same time, quickly restore traffic, essential infrastructure works and stabilize life and production.
