Lao Cai removes obstacles for 41 energy projects worth more than 47.1 billion VND

Lao Cai - The province is reviewing and handling obstacles to accelerate the progress of projects with a total estimated capital of more than 47.100 billion VND.

On August 13, information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the locality is reviewing and processing 41 energy projects and dossiers with a total estimated investment of more than 47.1 billion VND.

According to the Department of Finance, 41 projects and dossiers include 27 hydropower projects with a capacity of 264.7 MW; 10 solar power projects with a capacity of 1,670 MW and 4 transmission grid projects. Total expected capacity of 2,034.7 MW, total investment capital of about 47.16 billion VND.

Among these, 6 projects have been approved for investment policy or investor approval; 3 projects have appraisal reports; 15 projects have appraisal result notices; 16 projects are being consulted, appraised, and completing dossiers, and 1 project has investors requesting to withdraw dossiers.

The main problems related to commune-level general planning, land, project overlaps, mineral planning, relics, people's consensus and connection and capacity clearance plans.

For hydropower, Lao Cai currently has 17 projects under construction with a total capacity of 191.3 MW.

In which, 5 projects are expected to generate electricity in 2026. Nam Khoa 1-2 Hydropower Plant is expected to generate commercial electricity before August 20; Viet Tien and Xuan Hoa Hydropower Plants will be completed in August; Ho Bon 2 in September and Lan Bo in November 2026.

According to Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc, departments, branches and localities need to focus on removing each group of obstacles, especially in terms of planning, land, minerals and connection.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to review the land use needs of power source projects; the Department of Industry and Trade updates the location and scale of the project into the commune-level general plan, and at the same time reviews the connection plan and capacity clearance capacity.

For projects that have not received the consensus of the people, the People's Committees of communes must have appropriate handling plans, focusing on creating livelihoods and ensuring the legitimate rights of the people.
