Lao Cai - Due to the impact of storm No. 10, many areas have heavy rain causing flash floods and landslides.

Due to the impact of storm No. 10, from the afternoon of September 29 to the morning of September 30, heavy rain over a wide area caused heavy damage in many localities in the province, leaving 1 person missing and 5 people injured.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, from the afternoon of September 28 to the morning of September 30, floods and thunderstorms have damaged and blown off roofs of 649 houses; more than 801 hectares of rice, crops and crops were affected; 110 poultry were swept away.

The traffic system was severely damaged, of which Provincial Road 162 (Quy Xa Road to Van Ban Commune) suffered about 30,000 m3 of rock and soil; Provincial Road 155 suffered a landslide at Km38 (belonging to Ngu Chi Son Commune) with a volume of 100 m3.

Provincial roads 166, 163, 174 were also landslides at many points, National Highway 70, National Highway 4D, National Highway 32 through the area were flooded and landslides at many points; rural roads in Duong Quy, Muong Bo, Viet Hong, Hanh Phuc... were cut off.

At 6:00 a.m. on September 30, the old Hong Ca road from the old Hung Khanh to Trung Nam village to Khe Lech village collapsed, causing traffic to be cut off and vehicles could not move.

In Tu Le commune, preliminary statistics as of 9:00 a.m. on September 30 show that more than 30 hectares of people's rice are currently flooded, at risk of being lost.

The local government has urgently evacuated 15 households in locations at high risk of landslides to safe places. Heavy rain has caused landslides in 5 to 6 locations on Khau Pha Pass, and vehicles are currently unable to circulate.

Meanwhile, due to the rising flood of the Red River, on the morning of September 30, many roads and streets along the river in Yen Bai ward were deeply submerged in floodwater.

Communes along the Red River such as Tran Yen, Quy Mong, Nam Cuong Ward, and Au Lau were severely affected, with many places flooded more than 1m deep, with the risk of flash floods and landslides.

In Viet Hong commune, the flash flood on the evening of September 29 caused 45 houses to be flooded, 68 households to have their slopes eroded, 3 houses to have their roofs blown off, along with more than 91 hectares of rice fields, 40 hectares of fish ponds buried and over 4,000 livestock and poultry swept away.

Provincial Road 172 and many inter-commune roads were eroded, thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil were temporarily cut off from traffic.

According to the forecast, the circulation of storm No. 10 is still complicated, the risk of prolonged heavy rain, landslides and flooding in the area is very high.
