Information from the Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station on September 30, at the Lao Cai hydrological station, the flood on the Red River has peaked and is at 83.44m, 0.06m below alert level 3.
At Yen Bai hydrological station, the water level at 6am was 34.25m, above alert level 3 by 2.25m. The flood continued to rise slowly, compared to 5am, the water level increased by 7cm.
On the morning of September 30, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper at the Red River flowing through Lao Cai Ward, the river water was turbulent and winding, carrying waste to and from.
In fact, many alluvial plains along the Red River, which were clearly visible, have now been submerged by floodwaters.
Ms. Duong Thi Ha (residing in Lao Cai ward) said: "The water level of the Red River kept rising like this, we were very worried. This is the highest flood since the beginning of the season and since Typhoon Yagi last year. Hopefully the water will recede quickly, but many places are flooded, and there is also a lot of damage".
