Lao Cai - The authorities have handled a case of posting false information on social media while people focused on responding to storms and floods.

At around 8:30 a.m. on September 30, a Facebook account named Nguyen Viet Thang posted a photo with false content about a drifting ship at the An Duong Vuong embankment (Lao Cai ward).

The article quickly attracted many comments, shared with speculative opinions, and negatively affected public opinion.

Immediately after receiving the information, the police force stepped in to verify. In less than 30 minutes, Lao Cai Ward Police confirmed that this was fake news, because the account owner used AI technology to create images to "license and attract views".

Working at the police station, Nguyen Viet Thang (born in 1989, residing in Cam Duong ward) admitted to his actions.

Based on the regulations, the authorities have drawn up a record and issued a decision to impose an administrative fine of 7.5 million VND.
