On March 24, according to PV's investigation, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has just issued document No. 2085, requesting to strengthen the management of freight rates in the area in the context of fluctuating fuel prices, in order to stabilize the market and protect people's rights.
According to the direction, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to closely monitor the developments of gasoline and oil prices and impacts on freight rates, especially passenger and essential goods transportation.
Units are responsible for guiding businesses to declare freight rates in accordance with regulations, ensuring the correctness and sufficientness of price formation factors.
The province requests to strengthen inspection of declaration, listing and sale according to listed prices of transport business units; focus on cases of price adjustments at high levels, promptly detect and strictly handle violations, and prevent the situation of taking advantage of fuel price fluctuations to unreasonably increase prices.
For transport businesses, the Provincial People's Committee requests strict compliance with regulations on declaration, listing and selling at listed prices; and at the same time proactively review and optimize operational plans.
Arrange vehicles suitable to actual needs, limit empty vehicles to save fuel and improve operating efficiency.
Units are encouraged to promote the application of science and technology, digital transformation in management and operation of transport activities; gradually switch to using electric vehicles, clean energy, contributing to reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
