On June 11, the People's Committee of Buon Don commune (Dak Lak province) confirmed that a boat capsizing incident on the Serepok River had just occurred in the area, killing a couple.
According to initial information, in the early morning of the same day, Mr. Y.M. B (63 years old) and his wife, Ms. H.Q. H (63 years old, residing in Buon Tri, Buon Don commune) rowed a boat on the Serepok River to check fishing nets.
When moving to the area with the whirlpool, the boat suddenly capsized, causing both husband and wife to fall into the river and go missing.
Discovering the incident, local people quickly shouted for help, and at the same time reported to the authorities and functional forces. Immediately after that, search and rescue work was urgently deployed with the participation of functional forces and people living along the river.
At about 6:10 am on the same day, the bodies of the two victims were found and brought ashore.
According to the People's Committee of Buon Don commune, on the evening of June 10, heavy rain occurred in the area, causing the water level of the Serepok River to rise, the flow to be strong, and many more dangerous whirlpools appeared than in previous days.
