Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, said: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1954 - May 13, 2025), the Red Phuong Flower Festival - 2025 and to receive the President's Decision to confer the title of "Heroic City", Hai Phong City solemnly held a ceremony to attach a road signboard named after former General Secretary Do Muoi.
According to the Vice Chairman of Hai Phong, throughout his revolutionary activities, General Secretary Do Muoi was not only a loyal communist soldier, an outstanding leader with many great contributions affirmed in the Vietnamese revolutionary process but also a great example of exemplary communist personality. Comrade participated in revolutionary activities and matured very early. Since March5, the Party Central Committee appointed comrade Do Muoi directly as Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, who directly directed the takeover of the 300-day military transport area in Hai Phong, marking a historic milestone. Especially when Division 320 took over the city on this day, May 13, exactly 70 years ago.
On May 15, 1955, two days after taking over the city, Hai Phong City Party Committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City Military Commission, focused on analyzing the opinions and aspirations of the people, proposed measures to mobilize the masses, ensure order and security. With the qualifications, capacity and prestige, in October 1956, Mr. Do Muoi was assigned by the Central Government in Hanoi. It can be affirmed that, in the position as the Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee, especially at the beginning of taking over the city, in a very difficult context, but Mr. Do Muoi quickly grasped the situation, set out a clever strategy, and built a new life for the people, and caught the enemy in the enemy. As a result, Hai Phong maintained the people's government, expanded the unified national front, built a large and strong armed forces. The people of Hai Phong have completely defeated the invasion of the French colonialists. In that general victory, there is a very important contribution of comrade Do Muoi.
Later, despite holding more responsibility, comrade Do Muoi still had a special affection for the Navy. Through each visit and work with the port city, he left many strong impressions in the hearts of cadres, soldiers and people of Hai Phong.
In order to pay tribute to the great merits of the late General Secretary Do Muoi, Hai Phong City has named his comrade for a large road in the new urban area of Bac Cam River - the administrative political center of Hai Phong City. This route has been invested since 2019, located in the overall project of construction of technical infrastructure of the new urban area of Bac Cam River, with a length of about 1.6km from Hoang Van Thu Bridge to the end of the project, the road section width is 66m; With 10 lanes, sidewalks, trees and synchronous and modern technical infrastructure systems. Is the main axis route of the area, connecting the old urban core area of Hai Phong with the new political - administrative center of the city.
