On November 4, Mr. Bui The Anh, Chairman of the People's Committee of La De commune (Da Nang city) said that the local government had just issued an urgent notice, requesting forces to prepare plans to evacuate people from areas at risk of landslides when ordered.
Previously, on the evening of November 3, people in Dac Rich village, while checking the acacia forest, discovered a long crack on the top of the mountain, located right above the residential area.
After receiving the information, the commune urgently went to the scene to check and recorded a crack longer than 100m, deeper than 1m, the land showed signs of strong subsidence, at the foot of the mountain where nearly 20 households lived.

This area is very dangerous, just one more heavy rain, the soil can slide and collapse at any time, causing serious consequences. People here liken it to a "water bomb" hanging on its head," said Mr. Bui The Anh.
According to Mr. The Anh, this location used to have small cracks; however, after the recent prolonged heavy rain, the cracks widened and a large small mud hole appeared, showing a particularly high risk of landslides.
Currently, the commune has sent militia, police and village officials to be on duty 24/7 to block off areas, put up warning signs of danger and prepare safe temporary accommodation locations to be ready to evacuate households when ordered.
Not only in La De, in Tay Giang commune (Da Nang city), the local government has urgently evacuated people from areas at risk of landslides after discovering a large crack on the hill behind the residential area of Tay Giang Ancient Village ( Agrong village).
Mr. Arat Bui, Chairman of Tay Giang Commune People's Committee, said that through a field survey, the crack was about 300m long, 0.3 - 0.5m wide, some locations had subsidence of more than 2m deep, the volume of rock and soil at risk of landslides was estimated at more than 5,000m3.

"We have counted about 60 affected households, of which 18 households are at risk of being completely buried, 22 households are at high risk and 10 households may be indirectly affected if landslides occur," said Mr. Arat Bui.
That same night, the commune government mobilized police, military, and youth union members to mobilize and urgently evacuate 40 households in high-risk groups to safe shelters. At the same time, checkpoints were set up, warning signs were placed and people were restricted from passing through this area.
For the remaining households, the authorities are continuing to assess the level of impact and develop a relocation plan to ensure the safety of life and property.
