The Management Board of Ke Go Nature Reserve said that recently, the unit coordinated with the authorities to install 88 camera traps to monitor biodiversity in the Ke Go Nature Reserve area.
As a result, 19 species of mammals, 13 species of birds and 1 species of reptiles were recorded.
19 recorded species of animals include: striped rabbit, peach-cheeked squirrel, monkey, bamboo rat, black squirrel, palm civet, crab-civet, wild cat, mouse-shaped mouse, palm civet, hill, red-bellied squirrel, mouse, golden monkey, deer, northern silver-cheeked ferret, reticulated civet, wild boar, yellow-throated ferret.
13 recorded bird species include: bar-backed partridge, bar-bellied pitta, Burmese buzzard, mahogany-breasted partridge, dove, banded laughingthrush, jungle fowl, jungle fowl, grey-headed pitta, purple-sided pheasant, white pheasant, white-headed laughingthrush, and red-rumped shama.
Among the mammal and bird species recorded through camera traps, there are many individuals in the list of endangered and rare forest animals in groups IB and IIB, listed in the Vietnam and world Red Book, strictly prohibiting illegal hunting, exploitation, and trading and needing priority protection and conservation.
Ke Go Nature Reserve has a very diverse, rich and rare fauna and flora. Up to now, within the reserve, 80 species of mammals, 298 species of birds, 63 species of reptiles and 33 species of amphibians, 302 species of insects and 35 species of fish have been recorded.
Of the total recorded animal species, 17 (21%) are rare and listed in the Vietnam and World Red Book, such as: bat weasel, giant loris, red-faced monkey, pig-tailed monkey, mottled monkey, brown-shanked douc langur, red-cheeked gibbon, black bear, sun bear, common otter, binturong, leopard, tiger, gaur, mountain goat, golden pangolin, large flying squirrel...
