Lai Chau - The locality has just added Co La irrigation lake to the list of lakes and ponds not to be filled.

On July 25, according to PV's investigation, recently, Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 01/QD-UBND approving the supplementation and updating of the list of lakes, ponds, lagoons, and lagoons that are not allowed to be filled in the province.

According to the decision, Co La irrigation lake in Doc Lap village, Binh Lu commune is added to the list of lakes and ponds not to be filled. The project has the function of regulating water sources, serving agricultural production and local people's lives.

Along with that, the province updates the locations of lakes, ponds, lagoons, and lagoons according to the names of new commune-level administrative units after arrangement according to Resolution No. 1670/NQ-UBTVQH15.

Currently, Lai Chau has 46 ponds, lakes, lagoons, and lagoons that are protected and distributed in many communes and wards in the province.

These works perform many functions such as regulating water sources, preventing flooding, protecting water sources, serving production, economic development and creating ecological landscapes.

Some lakes also play an important role in preventing and combating flash floods and storing fresh water sources.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with localities to announce the list, post it on the Provincial Electronic Information Portal and update it to the Information System and National Water Resources Database within 15 days from the date the decision is approved.

The contents of previous decisions that are not within the scope of amendment and supplementation continue to be kept in force.
