National Highway 6 is a vital axis, connecting Hanoi with Phu Tho and the Northwest provinces. In fact, National Highway 6 passing through Hanoi has deteriorated and been overloaded for many years, frequently causing congestion and traffic accidents.
To solve the above situation, at the end of 2022, the Hanoi People's Committee started the project to expand National Highway 6, Ba La - Xuan Mai section with a length of about 21.7 km.

The starting point of the project is at km14 in Ba La district, Ha Dong district (now Yen Nghia ward); the ending point is km38, Xuan Mai town, Chuong My district (now Xuan Mai commune).
The project has a total investment of over 9,590 billion VND, implemented in the period 2022-2027.
According to Lao Dong's records on March 11, construction work is being implemented by contractors in some locations that have cleaned up ground in Duong Noi, Kien Hung, Phu Luong, Yen Nghia, and Chuong My wards (former Ha Dong district).


To date, Ring Road 4 overpass has been constructed with 95/144 bored piles; 2/16 abutments and bridge piers have been completed; 12/120 Super T girders have been cast. 6 piers are continuing to be constructed, and Super T girders continue to be cast.
Mai Linh bridge has been cast 36/238 beam blades I and has deployed construction of 30/126 drilled piles, cast 1,000/6,936 molds. 4 pillars are under construction.


As for Chuong My ward, Phu Nghia commune and Xuan Mai commune (former Chuong My district), the length of the handed-over section is about 19.91 km (left, right of the route), but the ground received is sparse, not connected to the route. Up to now, 2.76 km (left, right of the route) has been paved with C19 asphalt concrete.
Currently, units are actively implementing the construction of technical trenches, drainage systems, foundations, road surfaces, stone block walls, and sidewalks for sections that have been handed over for construction conditions.
For the bridge section (5 bridges, 1 culvert), the Project Management Board has organized the construction of many important items.
Dong Chu bridge: 2/2 units have been completed for laying and installing, and 2 units are deploying concrete pouring of the bridge deck. Paving the bridgehead road, making overpasses, paving the bridgehead road.
Tan Truong bridge: 2/2 beam installation has been completed, longitudinal connecting beams, bridge deck have been constructed, and railings and walkways are under construction.
Box culvert at Km 23 + 600: 2/9 sections have been completed; Năm Lu (6x6) box culvert at Km37 + 515: 4/6 sections have been completed.
56/56 spans of Xuan Mai bridge and 56/56 spans of Quan Lat bridge have been cast.
Other bridges in the area are waiting for land to construct drilled piles and other items.


Regarding site clearance for the National Highway 6 expansion project, the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that it is expected to complete the entire project in the second quarter of 2026.
In which Kien Hung and Duong Noi wards will be completed in April 2026; Phu Luong and Yen Nghia wards will be completed in June 2026; Chuong My ward, Xuan Mai and Phu Nghia communes will be completed in June 2026.
