In recent years, many policy households have been supported with housing, but now over time of use, it has deteriorated, and the quality is not guaranteed. On April 17, 2024, the People's Committee of Long An province issued Plan No. 1209/KH-UBND on supporting the construction and repair of gratitude houses in the province.
Accordingly, the province has completed the implementation of support for the construction and repair of 213 houses for people with revolutionary contributions in the province from the budget contributed from the salaries and income of party members, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers and enterprises in the province.
In addition to the support plan of the province, districts, towns of Kien Tuong and Tan An city have mobilized the construction and repair of 59 gratitude houses in localities.
To promptly implement Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg dated November 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the level of support for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives and the ratio of capital allocation support from the central budget, the ratio of support capital from local budgets, recently Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee Pham Tan Hoa signed a decision approving the Project to support housing for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives with housing difficulties in the province in 2025.
The project clearly states that supporting people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives to improve their housing is the responsibility of the whole society. The goal of the Project is to in 2025, solve and support all cases of people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs facing housing difficulties according to the results of reviewing and commenting on the list of households eligible for housing support in the province that have been reviewed and approved.
According to statistics, the whole Long An province currently has 118 households of meritorious people and relatives of martyrs in need of housing support; of which 35 households need to build new houses and 83 households need to repair.
The support level applied by Long An province is higher than the general regulations to suit local geological conditions. Specifically, each household that builds a new house will receive a support of 100 million VND; households that renovate and repair houses will be supported with 50 million VND. The total budget for the Project is more than 7.67 billion VND, mobilized from the central and local budgets and the Provincial " use of gratitude" Fund.

Housing support is carried out according to the motto "The State supports the house, the community joins hands to help, households participate in contributing", ensuring that the works meet quality and sustainability standards. For newly built houses, the minimum requirement is a usable area of 30m2 (for single households is 24m2) and must meet the "3 hard" standard (hard foundation, hard frame - wall, hard roof) with a minimum durability of 20 years. Repair houses must meet the "2 hard" standard (hard frame - hard wall, hard roof) with a lifespan of 10 years or more.
The project aims to complete all support for the construction and repair of gratitude houses before October 31, 2025. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction as a standing agency, coordinating with relevant departments and branches for implementation. At the same time, socio-political organizations, local authorities and communities were mobilized to ensure the progress, quality and effectiveness of the program.
The implementation of this Project not only demonstrates the spirit of "repaying gratitude", but also contributes to improving the lives, creating conditions for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives to have stable housing, feel secure in developing their lives, thereby contributing to the overall development of Long An province.
Through statistics in 15 districts, towns and cities in the province, only Ben Luc district has no cases that need support under the project. The remaining Duc Hue 26 households, Tan Hung 23 households, Vinh Hung 11 households, Duc Hoa 11 households, Tan Thanh 9 households, Thanh Hoa 9 households, Moc Hoa 5 households, Kien Tuong town 4 households, Can Giuoc 4 households, Tan Tru 4 households, TP.
