On the morning of May 29, Mr. Lo Van Viet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanh Dich commune (Que Phong district, Nghe An) said that the flash flood that suddenly swept through on the night of May 28 caused great damage to the property of local people.

According to initial information, in the afternoon and evening of May 28, in Hanh Dich commune, there was prolonged heavy rain, causing water in streams to rise rapidly. At around 9pm, the flash flood suddenly overflowed into Long Thang village cluster, carrying a large amount of rock and soil from the upstream of Pung stream, damaging many houses, crops and sweeping away property.
Some images at the scene show rocks and soil all over the village, many household items were swept away, including motorbikes. Some houses were severely damaged, with broken walls and unroofed roofs.

Fortunately, thanks to the proactive response of local authorities and armed forces, people in the vulnerable area were evacuated to safety in advance, so there were no human casualties.
On the morning of May 29, the People's Committee of Que Phong district sent a working group to Long Thang village to visit and encourage the people, and at the same time directed the statistics of damage, mobilized forces to support overcoming the consequences, and soon stabilized their lives.
