The emergency flood and special flood bulletin issued by the Central Hydrometeorological Agency said that by noon on October 29, the water level on the Vu Gia, Thu Bon, and Tam Ky river systems continued to rise, surpassing many warning levels, including places that exceeded the historical flood level in 1964.

It is forecasted that in the next 6-18 hours, floods on Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers will continue to rise and peak. The Vu Gia River in Ai Nghia may reach 10.6-10.8m, approximately the historical flood level in 2009; the Thu Bon River in Cau Lau may reach 5.5m, equivalent to the historical flood in 1964; in Hoi An, the flood peak is expected to be 3.5m, about 0.1m higher than the 1964 mark.
Prolonged heavy floods caused deep and widespread flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas. Many communes such as Que Phuoc, Nong Son, Que Son, Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban, Hoi An, Hoa Tien, Hoa Xuan, Cam Le, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoa Vang... are heavily flooded, many residential areas are isolated.
In the next 18-24 hours, the water level will tend to decrease slowly but remain high; Tam Ky River alone will fluctuate around alert level 1-2. There is a very high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas of Da Nang and border areas.
The meteorological agency warns of level 3 natural disaster risk, recommends that people do not travel through deeply flooded and landslide areas; local authorities need to proactively evacuate people from dangerous areas, ensure the safety of works and dams, and take timely response measures to minimize damage to people and property.
