Mother hugs her young child and suspects to jump into the river in Ninh Binh

    Ninh Binh - On the afternoon of August 19, the leader of Ninh Giang Commune People's Committee confirmed that an incident had just occurred in the area where a mother hugged her young child and suspected of committing suicide by jumping into the river.

    Initial information, at around 3:00 a.m. this morning (8.19), Ms. D.T.S (born in 1991, residing in Co Chat 1 village, Ninh Giang commune, Ninh Binh province) hugged her child who had just been a few months old and left home. Discovering the incident, Ms. S's family went to look for her.

    When they reached the Van Lai River not far from Ms. S's house, the family discovered that the child had died in the river, while Ms. S was digging in the water and was promptly saved.

    The leader of Ninh Giang Commune People's Committee added that according to information from Ms. S's family, Ms. S suffered from postpartum depression and is being treated.

    The child's body has been handed over to his family and buried according to local customs.

    The case is being further investigated by the authorities.
