Expanding the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, completing site clearance in August

Dong Nai - The project to expand the HCMC - Long Thanh expressway section passing through the city is expected to complete site clearance in August.

On July 27, according to the Dong Nai City Land Fund Development Center, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway expansion project (section passing through Dong Nai city) has cleared 90% of the site, and is expected to complete site clearance in August 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway expansion project is nearly 22 km long, of which the section passing through Dong Nai City is 13 km long. To serve the project construction, Dong Nai City must recover more than 4 hectares of land, with 417 land plots in Nhon Trach ward, Long Thanh ward and An Phuoc commune.

Previously, on August 19, 2025, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section.

The project to expand the HCMC - Long Thanh expressway section passing through HCMC and Dong Nai has a total length of about 22 km, starting point at the Ring Road 2 intersection, HCMC (Km4+000) and ending point at the intersection with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, Dong Nai city (Km25+920).

Regarding the project scale, for the section from Ring Road 2 intersection to Ring Road 3 intersection in Ho Chi Minh City (Km4+000-Km8+844.5), it will be invested in expanding from 4 lanes to 8 lanes.

In the section from the Ring Road 3 intersection of Ho Chi Minh City to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway intersection, excluding the scope of Long Thanh bridge (Km8+844.5-Km25+920), it will be invested in expanding from 4 lanes to 10 lanes.

For Long Thanh bridge, invest in building a new bridge unit with a scale of 5 complete lanes in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh, on the right side of the existing bridge.

The total investment of the project is more than 16,300 billion VND. Of which, 6,500 billion VND is state budget capital and more than 9,800 billion VND is mobilized by VEC.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, especially Long Thanh bridge, the main bridge is expected to be joined in December 2026 and the remaining items will be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
