A corrugated iron fence began to be installed on October 9 to construct the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section.

On the afternoon of October 8, Vietnam Expressway Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E) said that from tomorrow (October 9), a corrugated iron fence to serve traffic safety work for the construction of the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway section will begin to be installed.

From October 9, the contractor will deploy the installation of corrugated iron fences on the XL02 package (from Km13+900 to Km25+920).

At the locations where corrugated iron fences are installed, a system of speed limitation signs will be arranged according to regulations to ensure traffic safety for vehicles participating in traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

VEC E will continuously and promptly update the construction status on mass media sites.

According to the Southern Expressway Project Management Board, the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway expansion project is a project implemented in the form of an emergency project, which was started on August 19, 2025 and is currently being implemented by contractors in many items at the construction site.

Due to the nature of the expansion project on the existing Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway under exploitation, with high traffic density, there are many potential risks to traffic safety if there are no timely protection solutions.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway from the Ring Road 2 intersection to the Ring Road 3 intersection (Km4+000 - Km8+844.5), nearly 5 km long, will be expanded from 4 lanes to 8 lanes.

The section from the Ring Road 3 intersection to the intersection with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway (excluding the Long Thanh bridge area), nearly 15 km long, will be expanded from 4 lanes to 10 lanes.

In particular, Long Thanh Bridge, over 2.3km long, will build a new bridge with a scale of 5 complete lanes (with an emergency lane) in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh, located on the right side of the existing bridge with a width of 23.75m.

With the characteristics of the project, it is impossible to currently allocate land for the construction of service roads along the route to serve the construction, so the XL01 and XL02 packages need to access the construction site from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway.
