Bottleneck between 2 key traffic projects
The inter-regional road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai (now Lao Cai province) - with a total adjusted investment of 2,120 billion VND is currently implementing Package No. 60: Construction of the extended road.
Package No. 60 builds a road with a total length of 3.726km, designed according to grade III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h; the route section has its starting point at Km0 of the main inter-regional road, and the ending point intersecting with National Highway 32 at Km76+150.
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-February 2026, the section of National Highway 32 connecting from the end point of the inter-regional road extending to Phong Chau bridge (from Tam Nong Regional Health Center to the intersection of gas station No. 08) is about 230m long.

It can be seen that houses and business stores are close together on both sides of the road. In particular, there is a people's market here and people often sell flowers and fruits on the sidewalk, shoppers often park their cars on the road, plus the presence of many vehicles, making the road section often crowded and somewhat cramped.
Mr. Bui Van Tuyen - owner of a business store in the Phong Chau bridgehead area in Van Xuan commune - shared: "Since the new bridge, there has been a lot of traffic, many large trucks regularly move across the bridge to go to Viet Tri and vice versa, so I think the expansion of the road section through the market is urgent.
When the new Phong Chau bridge has been put into use, the extended inter-regional road will complete construction, renovation, and expansion in the future, the approximately 230m long road mentioned above will be like a bottleneck in the middle, so the investment in expanding this road section will help synchronize traffic infrastructure in the area and reduce congestion.
