On October 21, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province said that from October 16 to 18, Tay Ninh province experienced heavy rain with thunderstorms, tornadoes and flooding, causing damage to people and property in many communes, including Ninh Dien, Tan Hoi, Tan Dong, Chau Thanh and Vinh Hung.
According to quick statistics from the People's Committees of communes, a resident in Chau Thanh commune died due to fallen trees blocking the road, causing a traffic accident.
In terms of material things, a total of 41 houses were damaged, of which 3 houses completely collapsed, 38 houses had their roofs blown off. Sub-projects such as kitchens, attics, and barns were also damaged in 14 cases, estimated at about 55 million VND.
Agricultural damage was also significant, with 2.7 hectares of crops damaged, 950 perennial rubber trees, 70 durian trees, 360 broken jackfruit trees, and 7 hectares of rice flooded. The total preliminary damage is estimated at about 824 million VND.
Chau Thanh commune recorded 16 houses with unroofed roofs and 14 auxiliary works damaged, estimated damage of about 243 million VND. Ninh Dien commune had 20 damaged houses, 2 completely collapsed houses, and 2.7 hectares of crops, estimated at about 496 million VND. Tan Hoi commune had 5 damaged houses and 70 durian trees broken. Tan Dong commune suffered damage to 360 jackfruit trees. Vinh Hung commune was flooded with 7 hectares of rice, and the rising flood level threatened about 480 hectares of rice in the dykes.
After the natural disaster occurred, the People's Committees of communes mobilized forces to support people in repairing houses, clearing fallen trees, fixing electrical problems and propagating measures to reinforce houses, limiting further damage to people and property.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province has sent a quick report to relevant agencies and units for monitoring and timely response coordination.
