According to the latest statistics from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Hanoi City Police, from May 15 to June 14, functional forces in Hanoi City inspected and handled about 6,500 vehicles violating regulations on stopping and parking on roads. The total fine amount is more than 4.6 billion VND.
Through the above data, it can be seen that the act of stopping and parking vehicles in violation of regulations is still common in the Capital, especially in the group of private cars, passenger cars and trucks. This is an act that potentially poses many risks of causing traffic congestion, obscuring visibility, increasing the risk of collisions and accidents, especially on streets with high vehicle density, school areas, hospitals, bus stations and key intersections.
Such as the area of Tran Thanh Tong, Tang Bat Ho streets and some adjacent roads, parking violations often arise due to being located near two major hospitals, causing traffic obstruction. Through inspection and handling, many drivers presented that they only stop their vehicles for a short time to pick them up or wait for relatives to see a doctor.
People, before moving to a certain location by private car, must find out about parking lots that comply with regulations. You cannot stop and park arbitrarily as you wish because it will greatly affect traffic order and safety. Inner city streets are inherently narrow, just one vehicle stopping and parking in violation of regulations can cause congestion" - Major Nguyen Van Cuong, officer of Hai Ba Trung Ward Police shared.
Or along routes such as Kim Ma, Nguyen Thai Hoc... in the past time, Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 has coordinated with Giang Vo Ward Police to regularly strengthen patrols and handle cases of illegal parking.
Many drivers of vehicles, mainly service passenger car drivers, are still subjective, thinking that they only stop for a short time and will not affect traffic. Some people also argue that because the car has problems, they are forced to find temporary parking. "On crowded roads like Kim Ma, just one vehicle stopping and parking in violation of regulations will narrow the roadway, easily causing congestion and obscuring the visibility of vehicles behind, increasing the risk of accidents. If the car has problems, drivers need to quickly put the car in a safe position and turn on the warning signal according to regulations" - Major Luu Trung Thuy - officer of Road Traffic Police Team No. 2 - said.
In the coming time, Hanoi City Police will continue to strengthen patrols and strictly handle violations. In addition to direct handling, functional forces also exploit surveillance camera systems and AI cameras to detect and remotely fine violations and encroachment on roads and sidewalks.
