The Minister of Construction has just issued a decision to temporarily close Ca Mau airport from October 30, 2025 to 23:59 on October 31, 2026.
The closure is to serve the construction of items of the project "Expansion and upgrading of Ca Mau Airport".
The temporary closure time is from 7:00 a.m. on October 30, 2025 to 5:59 p.m. on October 31, 2026 (local time).
The Minister of Construction assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to be responsible for announcing the temporary closure of airports and airports according to regulations; notifying local authorities, relevant agencies and units; and directing the implementation of remedial measures and handling arising problems.
According to the plan, Ca Mau airport will be a domestic airport, shared by civil and military use.
From 2021-2030, Ca Mau airport will be a 4C airport and a level II military airport. Each year, the airport welcomes about 1 million passengers and 1,000 tons of cargo; the type of aircraft used is code C such as A320/A321 and equivalent.
Vision to 2050, Ca Mau airport will maintain the same level as 4C airport and level II military airport, but the capacity will be increased to about 3 million passengers/year and 3,000 tons of cargo/year.
Regarding the runway system, in the period of 2021-2030, this airport is planned to be 2,400mx45m in size, parallel to the existing runway.
