Returning land and compensation to people
On October 17, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the People's Committee of Trieu Son Commune, Thanh Hoa Province, said that regarding the case of a household building a fence in the middle of the yard of Minh Son Kindergarten to reclaim land, this household voluntarily dismantled the fence after the People's Court of Region 3 - Thanh Hoa issued a verdict.

"Currently, the commune is waiting for the court to issue an official verdict to have a basis to completely handle the case. While waiting for the verdict to take effect, the household demolished the fence, creating conditions for teaching and learning at the school" - a representative of the People's Committee of Trieu Son commune informed.
According to this representative, in the coming time, the locality plans to expand the school area to the old Minh Son Commune People's Committee headquarters (closing the current school location) to move assets and hand over the land to households.
Regarding compensation, the court has decided that the local government must compensate the household with 390 million VND. After the verdict comes into effect, the commune will balance the capital sources to pay according to regulations.
"This is an incident that has existed for a long time, since the time of the old commune-level government. When the new government came into operation, the commune took action to handle the situation. The locality's viewpoint is to resolve the case quickly, in accordance with regulations and ensure the rights of the people. In the coming time, the commune will continue to coordinate with the authorities to handle it thoroughly" - said a representative of the People's Committee of Trieu Son commune.
Quarrying land for many years
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of June 8, Mr. Nguyen Van Lai hired workers to build a wall in the center of the yard of Minh Son Kindergarten.

The reason for the incident originated in July 2014, the People's Committee of the old Minh Son commune (now Trieu Son commune) agreed with Mr. Lai's family to exchange more than 950m2 of their family's residential land for another piece of land near the Commune Health Station to build the Minh Son Kindergarten's headquarters, serving the goal of meeting national standards.
After that, Mr. Lai's family handed over the land and received more than 50 million VND in site clearance support, with a written agreement. However, after 11 years, his family has not yet been allocated land as committed. Mr. Lai has repeatedly submitted petitions to the commune government and superiors but they have not been resolved, so a fence has been built in the middle of the schoolyard to claim his rights.
The case was then brought to court. By the end of September, the People's Court of Region 3 - Thanh Hoa had brought the above incident to trial.
