On August 21, information from the People's Committee of Truong Mit commune, Tay Ninh province said that a storm had just occurred in the area, causing a wall to collapse, killing one person. The victim is Mr. Nguyen Xuan N (born in 1989), from Khanh Hoi A hamlet, Dong Phuoc commune, Can Tho city, currently renting a room in hamlet 2, Truong Mit commune.
Previously, at about 3:30 pm on August 20, 2026, thunderstorms and strong winds appeared in Truong Mit commune, causing damage to people and property.
At the time of the incident, Mr. N was standing selling roasted ducks on the leased land when it rained heavily and the wind was strong, the wall of the grocery store tenant suddenly fell down, hitting Mr. N.
People and functional forces quickly took the victim to the emergency room. However, due to serious injuries, Mr. N died later. Mr. N works as a roasted duck seller and is raising two daughters, born in 2014 and 2021. His sudden departure put the family in difficult circumstances, when the two children were still young.
Immediately after receiving the information, in the afternoon of the same day, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Huan, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, and Ms. Huynh Thi Ai Le, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Truong Mit commune, visited and presented gifts to encourage the victim's family.
Not only causing casualties, the thunderstorm also blew off the roofs of 3 houses in Thuan Hoa, Thuan Binh and Thuan An hamlets; a wall in the cleared area in hamlet 6 also collapsed. Total property damage is estimated at about 200 million VND.
Immediately after the natural disaster, the Truong Mit Commune Military Command mobilized 6 officers and 26 standing militiamen to the area, supporting people and overcoming the consequences caused by thunderstorms.
