On the morning of October 27, Mr. Tran Trong Kim - Chairman of the People's Committee of A Doi commune (Quang Tri province) - said that there were 3 locations in the area that were cut off due to heavy rain. Rising water in Loa and Xa Tuong culverts has isolated the road through the commune in sections.
According to the leader of Ba Tang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, the school has asked for opinions from superiors and allowed students and teachers to stay home to ensure safety. Only one school in a safe area where teaching is organized, the rest is temporarily suspended.
There are 11 teachers of the school who are stuck at Km38 on DT 586, temporarily residing in a private house. The A Doi commune government has put up warning signs, prohibiting people from passing through the spillways, and sent forces to be on duty to monitor locations at risk of flooding and landslides.
According to the Office of the Quang Tri Provincial Civil Defense Command, due to prolonged heavy rain, the whole province recorded many locations and many inter-village roads being flooded and cut off. For example, in Ba Long commune, there are 5 overflow bridges that are flooded, the deepest is 2m. In Nam Hai Lang commune, 6 roads along the O Lau river in An Tho, Phu Kinh, Hoi Dien, My Chanh, Hung Nhon, Cau Nhi villages were flooded from 1 m to 1.2 m deep and the water level continued to rise.
