Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 5 (Kajiki), the government and functional forces of Quang Tri province have synchronously deployed many response measures, focusing on evacuating people, ensuring safety of ships and key works.
According to the report of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, at 5:00 a.m. on August 25, the center of storm No. 5 was at about 18.3 degrees North latitude; 107.7 degrees East longitude, about 220km East Southeast of Nghe An, about 200km East of Ha Tinh and about 180km North Quang Tri. The strongest wind is level 14 (150-166km/h), gusting to level 17. In the next 3 hours, the storm will move west-northwest at a speed of about 20km/h.
The impact of the storm caused many areas in Quang Tri to have moderate to very heavy rain. In the past 6 hours, the rainfall recorded at Song Thai Lake (Phu Trach) reached 116.8mm, Ho Vuc Tron 107.6mm, Quang Tung 93.4mm, Bac Trach 92.4mm, Con Co 82.4mm... Heavy rain, rapid rising water caused many low-lying areas to be partially flooded.
In the face of the above situation, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province has issued many urgent telegrams, requiring localities to complete the evacuation of people before 5:00 p.m. on August 24, relocate assets and households in areas with landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding before 6:00 p.m. on August 23.

By the morning of August 25, the whole province had evacuated 1,362 households with more than 4,100 people, mainly on site, from temporary houses to solid, high-rise buildings.
In the work of ensuring safety at sea, up to now, 8,711/8,725 vehicles with 24,126 workers have been safely anchored. There are only 14 vehicles with 72 workers operating in safe sea areas, regularly keeping in touch and avoiding according to instructions.
59 cargo ships and barges with 272 crew members, along with 552 ships from other provinces, anchored and were arranged safe locations by the authorities.
Quang Tri province has also established 5 defense zones, and assigned direct leadership to the response direction base.
Military forces, police, and border guards are mobilized to the maximum, closely coordinating in evacuating people, protecting the safety of dams, dykes, electricity systems, and communication. Telecommunications enterprises VNPT, Mobifone, Viettel have deployed measures to ensure smooth connection, ready to fix problems during prolonged storms.

Notably, the province has prepared reserves with more than 79,000 boxes of instant noodles, 12,900 boxes of dry food, 500 tons of rice, 21,000 boxes of bottled drinking water and hundreds of tons of other necessities. At the same time, more than 40,000m3 of fuel will be reserved, ensuring that it meets the requirements for responding to and overcoming the consequences of storms and floods.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province determined that in the coming period, localities need to promote the "4 on-site" motto, closely monitor the storm situation, be ready to evacuate people in dangerous areas, ensure the safety of dams and key works, while ensuring security, order and smooth communication.
