On the morning of May 18, Van Hoa Commune People's Committee, Dak Lak province said that functional agencies are urgently handling the landslide incident on DT650 road, the section passing through the commune, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain.
Previously, heavy rain occurred in the afternoon of May 17th, causing landslides on DT650 route, Doc Van section connecting Da Ban village (Van Hoa commune) with Xuan Nguyen village (Son Hoa commune). Soil and rocks from the positive taluy overflowed into the road surface, causing traffic obstruction.
The landslide area is located on a road under construction for upgrading. Immediately after the incident, the construction unit mobilized manpower and machinery to urgently fix it in order to ensure traffic and project progress soon.
At the scene, a large amount of soil and rocks from the positive slope fell onto the road surface, along with strong rainwater flow, making it difficult to move through the area. To ensure safety, many vehicles are forced to choose other routes to travel.
In addition to implementing landslide recovery measures, the construction unit also arranged forces to be on duty to warn and guide vehicles when passing through dangerous areas.
The investment and complete upgrade project of DT650 road is about 9km long, with a total investment of more than 244 billion VND. The road is expected to contribute to reducing the load on National Highway 19C and National Highway 25, while creating favorable conditions for trade and socio-economic development in the locality.
The Doc Van section of the project is about 1.6km long, with steep terrain, posing a risk of landslides when prolonged heavy rain occurs.
