On September 20, informing reporters, Mr. Trinh Van Nha - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong District (Nghe An) said that at noon today, on the last road leading to Ngoc Lam Commune, the water level rose and became congested. Students of all levels in Ngoc Lam Commune were informed to stay home from school to ensure safety.
The roads leading to Ngoc Lam commune have many spillways. Heavy rains over the past few days have caused water from streams to rise, and the flow through the spillways is large, so traffic must be stopped.
Ngoc Lam commune has nearly 6,000 people, currently 3 households in flooded areas have been evacuated to safety.
On the morning of September 20, the bridge over Giang River into Thanh Duc commune was deeply flooded, with strong currents. Thanh Duc commune People's Committee assigned forces to block the bridge, set up barriers at both ends, and informed people not to cross.
In Thanh My commune (a frequently flooded area of Thanh Chuong district), some low-lying roads were also partially flooded, including residential areas: Khe Tro, Khe Mo, Khe Gio, Khe Lau. Although the roads were not deeply flooded, the water flowed rapidly, making travel unsafe.
In Con Cuong district (Nghe An), on the morning of September 20, officers and soldiers of Chau Khe Border Guard Station coordinated with local authorities to evacuate the families of Mr. Hoang Van Son and Kha Van Canh in Bung Xat village, Chau Khe commune due to the risk of landslides.
On National Highway 7A, through the Bong Pass, Bong Khe Commune, on September 19, a landslide caused by a tree from a rocky cliff caused traffic jams. The risk of landslides still exists.
Also in Con Cuong district, the road from Chom Lom village to Yen Hoa village, Lang Khe commune, Con Cuong, suffered a severe landslide. Many giant rocks fell from the cliff, blocking the road, making traffic difficult and posing a potential danger to road users.
It is known that many localities in the mountainous region of Nghe An such as Ky Son, Que Phong, Con Cuong, Quy Hop, Anh Son... have had very heavy rainfall in recent days, with the risk of landslides and flooding.
Units are strengthening forces and proactively developing plans with the 4-on-the-spot motto when floods occur.
