Floods cause heavy damage in mountainous communes of Tuyen Quang

Tuyen Quang - Floods caused severe damage to many localities in the western and northwestern regions of Tuyen Quang province.

According to the report of the Tuyen Quang Hydrometeorological Station, on September 11 and 12, heavy rain occurred in the province. Rainfall in some areas was over 150mm such as: Cao Bo 205mm, Yen Lam 186mm, Phu Luu 183mm.

Heavy rain caused floods on river and stream systems, flooding in low-lying areas. Some traffic routes have been flooded, many areas of crops are flooded, and landslides have damaged the works.

Not yet shocked after the sudden flash flood that night, Mr. Ly Van Dat (Yen Phu commune) said that the rushing water was pouring down and sweeping everything away. Mr. Dat himself only had time to shout and urge his wife and children to run away to ensure their lives. His house was also swept away by flash floods, and the electric pole fell in, causing severe damage.

Chairman of Yen Phu Commune People's Committee Trinh Quoc Sang said that floods had swept through all villages in the area of Yen Lam commune (old), along the Nac stream, including: Thai Khao, Quang Tan and Ngoi Sen, Thang 10 In particular, Nac Con village was heavily isolated, causing difficulties in the access process, with 6 houses damaged.

In Phu Luu commune, 34/34 villages were affected. According to preliminary statistics, dozens of hectares of rice, fruit trees, and crops were flooded. Estimated damage is up to hundreds of millions of VND. The commune is coordinating with the Agricultural Extension Station in the area to guide people to clear the flow and drain water to protect crop areas.

In Cao Bo commune, 20m of road leading to Lung Tao village was severely damaged by floods, causing traffic congestion. Many landslides threatened the safety of people.

Chairman of Cao Bo Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Duong said that as soon as the flash flood passed, the commune mobilized machinery and human resources to overcome the consequences. At landslides, the locality also mobilized machinery to level the land, stretch ropes, and put up warning signs prohibiting people from entering the area.

According to the report of the Office of the Tuyen Quang Civil Defense Command, flash floods and flash floods have caused severe damage to people's property and crops. Localities have effectively implemented 4 on-site to support people to quickly stabilize their lives.

For households whose houses were damaged, localities have arranged to move to schools and cultural houses to take safe shelter.
