According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 8 am on April 17, in the Northern region, the water level of Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir reached 112.54 m, 117 m lower than the normal water level. Water flow to the reservoir was 760 m3/s, total discharge was 1,853 m3/s, all through the plant, no overflow discharge.
Son La Hydropower Reservoir is at an altitude of 208.74 m, inflow to the reservoir 98 m3/s, total discharge volume 1,127 m3/s through power generation.
Lai Chau Hydropower Lake has a water level of 289.27 m, 295 m lower than the normal water level; Tuyen Quang Hydropower Lake is at 112.27 m. These reservoirs have not yet been discharged for regulation.
At Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir, the water level reached 52.5 m, with a total discharge flow of 453.98 m3/s through the plant.
In the North Central and Central regions, many reservoirs maintain power generation operations but low flow to the reservoirs. Khe Bo Hydropower Reservoir discharges 95.5 m3/s through the plant; A Vuong Hydropower Reservoir discharges 32.6 m3/s. Most other reservoirs do not overflow.
In the Central Highlands, reservoirs on the Se San and Dong Nai river systems continue to generate electricity.
Ialy Hydropower Reservoir has a flow rate of 269 m3/s, total discharge 230 m3/s; Se San 4 Hydropower Reservoir discharges 160 m3/s; Dong Nai 4 Hydropower Reservoir discharges 202.82 m3/s through the plant.
In the Southeast region, Tri An Hydropower Reservoir has a water level of 58.94 m, the water inflow to the reservoir reaches 180 m3/s and has not been discharged for regulation.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the night of April 16 to April 17, due to the influence of cold air compressing low pressure troughs combined with wind convergence above 1500m, in the Northern region (except Lai Chau, Dien Bien) and North Central region there will be rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain over 100mm. From April 17, the North will turn cool.
The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang city and eastern Quang Ngai province will be hot with the highest temperature commonly 35 - 36 degrees C, with some places above 36 degrees C.
