According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 4:00 PM on June 20, in the Northern region, the water flow to Son La Lake reached 1,797m3/s, the highest in the country. The lake water level is at an elevation of 196.08m, nearly 19m lower than the normal water level of 215m.
Hoa Binh Lake has a water flow of 1,214m3/s, the water level reaches 99.38m, nearly 18m lower than the normal level.
Meanwhile, Lai Chau Lake receives 556m3/s of water to the lake and is generating electricity with a total discharge flow of 1,005m3/s. Tuyen Quang Lake has a water level of 98.81m, 21m lower than the normal water level.
In the North Central region, Trung Son Lake has a water level of 152.11m, only about 2m higher than the dead water level. The water flow to the lake reaches 45m3/s, while the total water discharge through the plant is 230m3/s. Ban Ve Lake recorded a water level of 173.8m, 26.2m lower than the normal water level.
In the South Central region, the water flow to many lakes continues to be low. A Vuong Lake only receives 1.73m3/s; Song Bung 2 Lake is 2.31m3/s; Vinh Son A Lake reaches 0.21m3/s. Song Tranh 2 Lake has a water flow to the lake of 29.3m3/s, the water level reaches 157.57m, 17m lower than the normal water level.
In the Central Highlands, hydropower reservoirs operate mainly for power generation. Se San 4 reservoir discharges through the plant 225m3/s; Dong Nai 3 reservoir discharges 96.66m3/s; Ham Thuan reservoir discharges 116.94m3/s; Da Mi reservoir discharges 113.9m3/s.
Notably, some reservoirs discharge through gates but the flow is not large. An Khe Lake discharges overflow 4m3/s and opens 1 surface discharge gate. Buon Kuop Lake discharges overflow 15.54m3/s, while maintaining 1 deep discharge gate.
In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir recorded a water inflow to the reservoir of 510m3/s, while the total water discharge through the plant reached 880m3/s. The reservoir water level is at an elevation of 53.98m, lower than the normal water level by more than 8m.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on June 19, the Northern region will be sunny, with hot sun in some places, especially the delta region will be hot, with hot sun in some places over 37 degrees Celsius.
