Large hydropower reservoirs across the country basically maintain below the normal water level, while most reservoirs do not discharge through spillways.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 5:00 AM on May 31, in the Northwest region, Son La Lake had an upstream water level of 194.8m, 20.2m lower than the normal water level (215m).

Hoa Binh Lake is at 102.83m, 14.17m lower than the normal water level. The water flow to Hoa Binh Lake reached 408m3/s, the power plant with a discharge flow of 1,401m3/s.

Lai Chau Lake recorded the highest water inflow to the lake in the area with 814m3/s but has not been discharged. Tuyen Quang Lake has an inflow to the lake of 249m3/s and is generating electricity with a discharge flow of 765.64m3/s.

In the North Central region, Khe Bo Lake has the largest water inflow to the lake in the region, reaching 551m3/s. The plant is operating electricity generation with a discharge flow of 170m3/s. Trung Son Lake receives a flow rate of 143m3/s, while Ban Ve Lake only reaches 67m3/s.

The South Central Coast region recorded low water flow to the reservoirs. A Vuong Lake had a flow to the reservoir of 39.17m3/s and discharged through the plant 58.4m3/s. Song Tranh 2 Lake only received 5.74m3/s of water to the reservoir and did not discharge water.

In the Central Highlands, Se San 4 reservoir has the highest water flow to the reservoir in the area, reaching 320m3/s and discharging electricity correspondingly 320m3/s. Ialy reservoir receives 48m3/s of water to the reservoir but is generating electricity with a discharge flow of 480m3/s. Some reservoirs discharge through spillways including An Khe (4m3/s), Srepok 3 (0.8m3/s) and Buon Kuop (15.23m3/s).

In the Southeast region, Tri An reservoir has a water inflow rate of 490m3/s, while the total discharge through the plant is 837m3/s.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 31, the Northern region will have showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and tonight, sunny tomorrow, with hot sun in some places.
