Water levels of hydropower reservoirs nationwide on March 9th

Water levels at many large hydropower reservoirs across the country are fluctuating around or lower than normal water levels.

According to data from Vietnam Electricity Group, at 13:00 on March 9, in the Northern region, Tuyen Quang Lake recorded an upstream water level of 114.28m, lower than the normal water level by 120m. The water flow to the lake is about 127 m3/s, the total discharge is 122.19 m3/s through the plant.

On the Da River system, Lai Chau reservoir has a water level of 294.99m, close to the normal level of 295m; water flow to the reservoir and total discharge are about 441 m3/s.

Son La Lake recorded a water level of 214.94m, water flow to the lake 348 m3/s, total discharge volume 48 m3/s through the plant.

Meanwhile, Hoa Binh reservoir has a water level of 113.73m, lower than the normal water level by 117m; water inflow to the reservoir is 40 m3/s and total discharge is 366 m3/s.

In the North Central region, many reservoirs such as Trung Son and Ban Ve have not discharged water, although there is still a water flow to the reservoirs of about 67 m3/s and 51 m3/s respectively.

Khe Bo Lake has a water level of 64.58m, the inflow to the lake and total discharge volume are at 95.5 m3/s.

In the South Central region, Song Tranh 2 reservoir recorded a water level of 173.47m, inflow rate of 62.4 m3/s, total discharge rate of 56.67 m3/s. Song Ba Ha reservoir has a discharge rate of 120 m3/s, about 55 m3/s higher than the inflow rate of the reservoir.

In the Central Highlands region, Ialy Lake has a water level of 508.26m, a water inflow rate of 248 m3/s and a total discharge rate of 299 m3/s.

Some reservoirs on the Se San and Srepok river systems such as Se San 3, Se San 3A, Srepok 3 and Buon Kuop are also operating for power generation with discharge flows of about 130–280 m3/s.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather forecast for March 8th, the Northern region has scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain. Cold at night and early morning. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

The Southern region in the late afternoon and night has showers and thunderstorms in some places; sunny during the day.
