According to updated data at 11:00 am on August 25, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Hydropower Lake reached 103.48 m, while the normal water level is 117 m and the dead water level is 80 m.
The water flow to the reservoir reached 941 m3/s. The total discharge volume downstream is 429 m3/s, all through the plant; the reservoir does not discharge through the spillway dam.
Compared to the normal water level, the water level of Hoa Binh Lake is currently 13.52 m lower. However, the water level is still 23.48 m higher than the dead water level.
Data shows that the reservoir is maintaining a water level between the dead water level and the normal rising water level, while the water inflow to the reservoir reaches 941 m3/s.
Previously, at 7:00 AM on August 22, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at an elevation of 102.36 m, the downstream water level was 13.31 m, the water inflow to the lake was 2,597 m3/s, and the total inflow to the downstream was 4,391 m3/s.
Implementing Official Dispatch No. 9680/CD-BNNMT dated August 22, 2026 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company closed 1 bottom discharge gate at 4:00 PM on August 22. After closing the bottom discharge gate, the water flow downstream is expected to be about 2,900 m3/s.
