According to Hoa Binh Hydropower Company, at 7:00 AM on August 18, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at an elevation of 104.55m, and the downstream water level was 11.82m. The inflow to the lake reached 3,818m3/s, and the total inflow to the downstream was 2,791m3/s.
Implementing Official Dispatch No. 9452/CD-BNNMT dated August 18, 2026 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company will open 1 bottom discharge gate at 4:00 PM on the same day.
After opening the discharge gate, the water flow downstream is expected to be about 4,400m3/s.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Company requests agencies, units and local authorities to coordinate and direct relevant units to implement plans to ensure safety for people, vehicles and activities in the downstream area of Hoa Binh Hydropower Dam.
