According to Hoa Binh Hydropower Company, at 7:00 AM on August 22, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at an elevation of 102.36m, and the downstream water level was 13.31m. The inflow to the lake reached 2,597m3/s, and the total inflow to the downstream was 4,391m3/s.
Previously, implementing the reservoir regulation request of functional agencies, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company operated to open the bottom discharge gate to regulate the reservoir water level and ensure the safety of the project.
By August 22, implementing Official Dispatch No. 9680/CD-BNNMT of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company announced that it would close 1 bottom discharge gate at 4 pm on the same day.
After closing the bottom discharge gate, the water flow downstream is expected to be about 2,900m3/s.
Hoa Binh Hydropower Company requests agencies, units and local authorities to proactively coordinate and direct relevant units to implement plans to ensure safety for people and vehicles operating in the downstream area of Hoa Binh Hydropower Dam.
Previously, on August 18, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company announced the opening of the bottom discharge gate of Hoa Binh Hydropower reservoir to regulate the reservoir at the request of functional agencies.
