Large hydropower reservoirs in the Northern region are all lower than the normal water level, Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang reservoirs continue to discharge water through spillways for regulation.

According to updated data at 11:00 am on July 31, in the Northeast region, Tuyen Quang reservoir has an upstream water level of 107.42 m, lower than the normal water level by nearly 12.6 m. Water flow to the reservoir reached 1,064 m3/s, total discharge volume 1,226.7 m3/s, of which 509 m3/s through the spillway and 717.7 m3/s through the plant. The reservoir is opening 1 deep discharge gate.

In the Northwest region, Hoa Binh reservoir has an upstream water level of 100.05 m, nearly 17 m lower than the normal water level. Water flow to the reservoir reached 4.017 m3/s, total discharge volume 4,500 m3/s, including 1,467 m3/s through the spillway and 3,033 m3/s through the plant. The reservoir is opening 1 deep discharge gate.

Son La Lake recorded a water level of 198.11 m, water inflow to the lake of 2,948 m3/s, total discharge of 3, 254 m3/s, all through power generation.

Lai Chau Lake has a water level of 288.91 m, the inflow and total discharge volume both reach 1,582 m3/s.

Two reservoirs on the Nam Mu river system including Ban Chat and Huoi Quang continue to operate stably. Ban Chat reservoir has a water level of 470.74 m, a flow rate of 222 m3/s, a total discharge rate of 242 m3/s. Huoi Quang reservoir reached a water level of 368.70 m, a flow rate of 313 m3/s, a total discharge rate of 342 m3/s.

Meanwhile, Thac Ba reservoir has a water level of 52.67 m, a water inflow of 745 m3/s, a total discharge volume of 445.9 m3/s, not discharged through the spillway dam.

In general, large hydropower reservoirs in the North still maintain water levels below normal water levels and operate according to inter-reservoir regulation procedures. By the time of update, only Hoa Binh and Tuyen Quang reservoirs discharged water through spillways, the remaining reservoirs mainly discharged through power plants for power generation.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting on July 31, the Northern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain.

The South Central Coast region is sunny during the day; especially the North of this area will have showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and night, with locally heavy to very heavy rain.

The Southern region has showers and thunderstorms in some places; showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and night, locally heavy to very heavy rain in some places.
